The 2001 Thumbing World Championship was again one of the the largest Thumbing only contests. Forty-nine competitors shot it out in three wax and two blank events.

The thumbing championship was held on March 16th, with the Wild West Championships following on the 17th and 18th. The Wild West Championships is an Open style contest with six events.
Above you can see the contest site of the Thumbing & Wild West Championships. The shooters can be seen on the far right (note the gunsmoke), with the timekeeper and scoring booth next to the shooting area.

The contest had six targets in action at all times, with all six shooters firing at the same time. Here you can see shooters in action during the 8' Standing Blank event.

This contest was truly an international event, with shooters from four countries including the U.S.A., Canada, Japan and Germany. To the right you can see the four German shooters, and four of the five Japanese shooters in attendance.
